This area enables you to configure TecknaShop, so that it can receive instructions from the shoppers concerning the goods they have ordered. Instructions are defined globally, that is you define as many different Instruction options as you need for your whole store and then apply the relevant Instruction(s) to each product when you create your inventory.
The shopper provides instructions by selecting them from either a drop down list, or by keying in free text. Choices can be used to collect the shoppers preference for packaging type, preferred delivery day and so on. Free text can be used to make a slogan for a T-shirt or a greetings card message.
To add a new instruction, click the Add button in the instruction menu. You will enter the add new instruction menu which will require you to enter the following criteria:
Description
Used to distinguish different instructions, it is also displayed when your
shopper reviews their basket content.
Prompt
A prompt displayed to the shopper on the actual product page to enter or
select an instruction. Examples of Instruction Prompts could be 'Choose
a Colour' or 'Add your greeting'.
Variables
These can either be entered as a series of items that present the shopper
with a drop down list. Each item is entered on a separate line in the
variables box. If the variables box is left blank the shopper will be
prompted to enter text rather than make a choice from a list.
Design Tip: If you wish to prompt for size, colours etc, but wish to maintain discrete stock amounts for these variations on product, use variants instead of instructions (explained in the Catalogue Options).
Maximum Length
If the variables box (above) is left blank, indicating that you wish to
accept text from your shoppers, you can specify the maximum length of
the input box that is presented to the shopper here.
Options (Empty input not allowed)
Click the checkbox to force the input of data from the shopper.
Sort Priority
A sort priority enables an instruction to have an importance level. By
associating an instruction with a priority number, you can apply an order
in which the instructions are displayed on the long detail product page.
You may use any numbering scheme that you wish however; lower numbered
items will be displayed first.
Click either the Add and Return to Add Instructions button or the Add and Return to Menu button to submit the new instruction. You can also clear the form by clicking the Clear Form button.
From the drop down list choose the instruction that you wish to amend then click on the View/Edit button to enter the existing instruction menu. To save the changes made to the instruction click the Update button.
In the instruction menu select the instruction from the drop down list that you wish to delete, once selected click on the Delete button. When deleting, a confirm checkbox is displayed in order to avoid accidental deletions. This box needs to be checked before the delete button becomes effective.
To view all the instructions currently being used, click on the Go button in the Report Menu. This report displays the instruction ID number and description. It will also give you the chance to view/edit details of the instruction, check the Edit Instruction radio button adjacent to instruction description, and then click the View/Edit button at the bottom of the report.
